Creamy Maple Turmeric Oatmeal

Creamy Maple Turmeric OatmealOn cold winter mornings, all I ever want for breakfast is something warm and comforting. And there is nothing better than oatmeal to warm you up, am I right?! I think so.

Creamy Maple Turmeric OatmealThis is actually the first time I’ve ever put turmeric in my oats! I know, I’m behind on this trend. I’ve been seeing people put turmeric in their oats for a while now, I’ve just been too stubborn to deviate from my boring go-to recipe of cinnamon oats with lots of fruit toppings.

I wasn’t going for a completely savory oat breakfast, so I added in some maple syrup and homemade blackberry jam and OHMYGOSH, you guys. I love this combo, it gives just the right amount of sweetness, alongside the more savory turmeric.

And to make it even better, turmeric has a ridiculous amount of health benefits. It is super anti-inflammatory in the body, so you are starting off your morning in the most perfect way. Delicious AND healthy. Score.

Yield: Serves 1

  • 1/2 cup GF whole oats
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Optional toppings: your favorite jam, pepitas, coconut chips, hemp seeds

  1. Combine the oats, milk, turmeric, cinnamon, and maple syrup in a small saucepan and put it over medium heat.
  2. Let the oats cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often so that it doesn't boil over. If it starts to boil over, just turn the heat down a little bit.
  3. Once the oats reach your desired thickness, transfer it to a bowl, drizzle a little more maple and top it with all of your favorite toppings. (I topped mine with blackberry jam, coconut chips, hemp seeds, and pepitas)
