Iced Mocha Maca Latte
With the crazy hot temperatures that we have been enduring in Lubbock lately, I have been drinking ALLLLL the iced lattes. I like to mix it up by coming up with new flavors pretty often, and this iced mocha has been making an appearance a lot lately.
Now don’t worry, I don’t like to make it complicated (or expensive) by adding in a bunch of crazy adaptogens. But for me, maca is definitely an exception. I think people are putting way too much of an emphasis on all of the super expensive adaptogens and fancy lattes lately. What is an adaptogen, you ask? Adaptogens are natural substances that help the body adapt to stress and bring it back to homeostasis.
BUT, you don’t need adaptogens to be healthy. They are not a magic pill that are going to cure any and all bodily ailments you might have. They have lots of different benefits, yes. But they are not essential. So don’t get too caught up in the adaptogen craze if you find that you can’t afford them.
The only adaptogen I actually use on a regular basis is maca. It is much more accessible for most people, and not to mention cheaper than most other adaptogens.
Benefits of Maca
- boosts the immune system
- helps to balance hormones
- increases energy and stamina
- increases focus
Maca is awesome, and I use it almost every day in some way, whether it is in my coffee, stirred into my oatmeal, or added to my smoothies. It is perfect in this latte because maca actually adds a bit of a caramel flavor.
The combination of cold brew, cacao powder, maca, and almond milk is a serious winner. Blend it up, pour over ice, sit back and enjoy some summertime fun!
Ingredients
- 4 oz cold brew concentrate (I used Chameleon)
- 8 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 2 tsp real maple syrup
- 2 tsp cacao powder
- 1/2 tsp maca powder
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a high speed blender and blend for at least 30 seconds on high. Pour over ice and enjoy!
