[Food for Beauty] – Coffee & Coconut Oil Body Scrub

Coffee and Coconut Oil Body ScrubOur skin is our largest organ, so it is important to pay attention to what we put on it. It absorbs a large percentage of the products that we rub all over our bodies. I love to make my own DIY beauty treatments with ingredients that are right in my kitchen.

A few years ago, I tried a coffee body scrub from a bath & body store, and loved it. I later found out that it had a bunch of ingredients in it along with the coffee and moisturizing oil. I decided that I wanted to figure out how to make my own, and it is SO simple! It smells amazing, and left my skin feeling ridiculously soft and moisturized. And the best part, it only has TWO ingredients.

Coffee has been shown to help with the appearance of cellulite because of the caffeine content, it helps to tighten and smooth the skin. Now don’t quote me on that, but that is just what I’ve read, so why not try it! It also works as an amazing exfoliator, so it will slough off all of those dead skin cells hanging out on the surface of your skin and allow for new cell turnover. Coconut oil is great for your skin because of the antioxidants and the fact that it is an amazing moisturizer.

Pamper yourself with this body scrub and enjoy your soft, radiant skin.

COFFEE + COCONUT OIL BODY SCRUB

1 cup ground coffee
3/4 cup coconut oil, softened1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

In a small bowl, soften the coconut oil in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Add the coffee grounds and vanilla extract and mix together until well combined. Use a palm full of the scrub and rub it all over your body in circular motions. Let sit for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off in the shower. You can use it on your face, but be careful if you have sensitive skin because it can be rough on the face.
